We look at the world and we wonder why we are where we are spiritually.
According to Barna Research 75% of America claims to be Christian and yet only 6% maintain a biblical worldview.
Christians in persecuted countries are giving their lives and paying the ultimate price for the cross and yet here in the western world we are challenged by our work, community, peers & neighbors. When confronted we cower and in a “mousy” voice say we are Christians.
Our bibles lay by the wayside and we lack any knowledge of His Word. But we know all the latest standings when it comes to sports.
We can sing the latest song along with the radio, but forget to words to “Amazing Grace.”
When we pray, it is selfish and materialistic, asking God for the latest big screen TV, or the shiny new car. We no longer pray for the mission field, the lost, or God’s Will.
In our own piety we have become unwilling to reach out even to our own next door neighbor. We have forgotten what brotherly love truly is. While our neighbors struggle in their sins desiring some sort of hope, we sit glued to the TV watching videos, playing Wii or Xbox instead of paying attention and reaching out to those who are lost.
1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Solid biblical churches are closing every day. Missionaries are coming home and not returning to the mission fields.
The body of Christ does not care anymore.
Good bible preaching and teaching pastors are no longer supported. Good bible preaching and teaching churches are no longer attended.
People do not want to hear about sin, hell and eternal damnation. They would rather heap up to themselves teachers preaching sugar coated phsyco-babble.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
When the message gets tough and cuts like a knife, what do we do?
Well, it’s time to have a tail gate party, go play a round of golf, watch a baseball game. Anything besides being held accountable to God.
Because we refuse to support the bible preaching and teaching pastors, today we have hirelings who stand behind the pulpit. Instead of knowing and studying God’s Word, they go to “sermons.com” and download the latest purpose driven feel good message guaranteed to fill the offering plates when they get passed around.
Our churches are no longer places of worship, they are buildings for 10 step programs, block parties, “holy roller” car shows and rock concerts.
Living a holy life is no longer the “in thing.”
Slapping the word “Christian” on any and all pet sins is what is acceptable today. If it feels good, slap Christian on and just do it.
We have Christian Yoga, Christian Pole Dancing, we even dabble in porn but call it “Biblical erotica” so as to appear “holy.”
We fill our brains with heinous garbage that even 10 years ago we would have never thought to have watched.
Adultry – OK
Lying – OK
Stealing – OK
Cheating – OK
Fornication – OK
Drunken revelry – OK
1Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
We gladly welcome in false religions trying to not offend but to appear tolerant. We even go as far as changing our name from Christian to “christ-islam” to pander to the world.
We no longer contend for the faith. We now bow to compromise, accepting a watered down gospel. We accept that there are many paths to God all leading to Him. We have forsaken the narrow path and many are now on the Broad way.
We have this haughty idea that we are better, because we are tolerant. We think we have “matured” in Christ because we allow the sodomite, the pedophile, the adulterer, drunkard, harlot, and ever sort of the world’s filthiness in our church today and stamp them “OK.”
We see grace as a license to sin and twist scripture to condone our ways by saying “I’m ok..your ok – we’re all ok because we are Christians. Who are we to judge another? We all sin, right? God will forgive us anyways, we are not perfect. So if it feels good, do it. All good things are from God.”
We then wonder why our churches are the way they are today?
We have forgotten who we serve. No longer do we strive to live a holy acceptable life unto Him.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
We no longer deem it necessary to give our lives to Him because it is our reasonable service.
No longer do we think and meditate about the sacrifice, pain, suffering as well as the blood spilt on our behalf because He loved us so much that God gave His only Son to die for our sins.
We have chosen the world and conformed to her. We have done the opposite to what God’s Word has told us to do.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Our elementary schools have become forums of public indoctrination and we allowed it.
Individuals are urged to sacrifice themselves for a greater “People’s Community.
” Don’t buck the ways of the world, but find your place in it. Work for the church, sacrifice your time, do all you can do and one day you will make it to heaven.”
The church now preaches a new set of global values, based on a blend of earth-centered beliefs, socialist ideology, and globalist goals. They rule out biblical boundaries and absolutes. Genuine Christianity simply does not fit anymore.
We shouldn’t be surprised. Again and again, the Old Testament shows our natural inclination to drift toward apathy, compromise, rebellion, and paganism — anything but God Himself.
How long will it be? How long will God’s hand of judgment be stayed?
People look at our nation, the disasters, manmade and natural and still we do nothing.
The signs are here, judgment begins first with His church.
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
We are His bride the Church. We are like a nation of loyal subjects.
We are called to –
- love and obey their King
- discover in their common devotion and warfare a fellowship that can rarely be found apart from persecution
- refuse to compromise, and
- persevere until death — or until the war is won.
We are living in the last days of the last days. The rubber is meeting the road. Times are going to get hard because we the church have forsaken our responsibility and stewardship over what He has given us.
Judgment begins at the House of the Lord.
Those who have strived to live a proper life, holy and acceptable unto Him will weather the storm. We have chosen the narrow path.
It is a path of righteousness and sanctification. It is a hard and difficult upward hill we constantly climb. But it is His grace that sees us through step by step.
Our Lord Himself said “few there be that find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
In the book of Jeremiah, the prophet in describing the people of Israel, but it describe us perfectly as well.
Jeremiah 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Christ Himself tells of our fate…
Revelation 3:16-17 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Tertullian in the 1st century stated the following. “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.”
I believe that if we do not turn from our wicked ways, that is what we will face. This is taking place in other parts of the world. Why should we think that we can live in sin and get away with it?
Persecution will begin in our own church, but it will not be the government, it will be at the hands of those who claim to be Christians themselves.
What is Christ’s promise to us?
Luke 6:22-23 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. 23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. The time is now to repent and get our lives right with the Lord.
I know that this article is one that is disturbing. Some may even be angry at me for stating the facts, but the truth needs to be told.
We have turned our backs on God and we need to return to Him. You know it and I know it. That is if we are to be effective an effective church taking out the gospel. Even if you can not take it yourself, help those who can.
But the first step we need to take is repentance.
In 1 John we read the following…
1 John 1:6-10 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
We need to repent and confess of our sins and when we do, God will forgive us and cleanse us for all unrighteousness. We then need to continue in righteousness striving and walking upon the path of sanctification, allowing and submitting to Him to change us from the inside out.
Judgment begins with the church, but we still have a chance if we return to Him and become soldiers of our Lord Jesus Christ instead of wallowing in the muck and mire of the World, thinking it is good.
Choose Him, live a holy and acceptable life unto Our Lord and Savior who died and shed His blood for us. It is our reasonable service. Now we need to live it as if our very lives depend upon it; because one day soon, it just might.
