“Even To The End Of The Age!”

“Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:21

Last night, two cable channels and at least one major news channel presented their research regarding the prophecies and predictions that the world will end on December 21, 2012. Since at least two of them came on at the same time, and I’m not technically savvy enough to know how to record on one channel and watch a program on another channel, I chose to watch the History Channel first and then the news channel the second hour. As usual, both presentations included a lot of facts, perhaps a little fiction, a whole lot of presumption and a boat-load of erroneous conclusions.

First, let’s get one thing settled up front! The Bible is clear – ages and generations will come and go, but there will never be such a thing as the end of the world, no matter how much hair spray we use. The fact that we spend thousands of dollars traveling to see and take pictures of the ruins of ancient civilizations – some even who were more intelligent about some things than we are, should serve to warn us that things like that do happen and that no generation or class of people is immune to self-destruction, like the Romans and the Greeks, or to cataclysmic destruction by the forces of nature, such as the Mayans and the Aztecs, or to plagues, political revolutions – even religious cleansing, as we see going on now in Africa and the Middle East.

Then there are those civilizations that were, without question, destroyed by God! “Sodomy” is defined by the courts to include any sexual act deemed unnatural, or by the Bible as copulation between persons of the same sex, or between persons and animals. (Genesis 18-19) But the term came from a town called Sodom which God destroyed because their homosexual activity had become so vile the men desired to rape angels who came to the city to warn Lot and his family to leave, because God was going to destroy it! While this statement seems to fall on deaf ears, even among many church leaders, no civilization has survived that turned from the traditional marriage of a man and a woman, and embraced homosexuality as an acceptable, alternative lifestyle! That is why the election of the next President is so important – not because of his or her political views, but their moral views. The next President will appoint the Supreme Court Judges who will determine the moral direction of our nation for years to come, and therefore our destiny.

So, while civilizations and generations have come and gone since Genesis, when God turned the chaos into the cosmos, the world still stands! And when you review the magnificent architectural accomplishments and the marvelous intellectual achievements of some of these people groups – the Egyptians, the Romans, even the Germans, just to name a few, obviously God does not have a policy that any nation is “too big to fall”! Whether they became the victims of God-ordained “natural disasters” (Psalm 18:10), or whether they self-destructed due to the vanity of their own choices, or in their rejection of God, (Romans 1:18ff) in many cases whole races of people vanished, or their remnant became absorbed into other cultures, but the world in which they existed still stands, because the One who spoke it into being now holds it in His hands!

Obviously the Federal Government thinks something major is about to happen, which is why congress passed the “Indefinite Detention” Bill (NDAA), opening military centers where even U.S. citizens can be detained without the protection afforded us in the US constitution. Their justification for this was to have a place to hold “Domestic Terrorists”, and that’s all well and good, until you discover that the Department of Homeland Security views conservative, Bible-believing Christians who stand on Bible prophecy to be potential domestic terrorists. This profile also includes military veterans, “preppers and survivalists”; those who are seriously preparing for chaotic times, and those who still believe in the U.S. Constitution – the “Tea Party”! America is on the verge of a major revolution just like you are seeing in Greece and Europe and the camps are being prepared to house the protestors!

So, as we begin this daily countdown to our date with destiny, we need to brace ourselves for the outright panic that will enflamed by the fear mongers who want to profit from the potential calamity. Whether or not the prophecy is true, if the majority of people believe it is true, and the numbers are growing, the intrinsic desire for self-preservation will create all kinds of issues, from stockpiling food, water, guns and ammunition, to the building of underground shelters and “survival compounds”. As one of the people on the program said last night, “If the electricity goes out all across America, society will return to the 15th century almost overnight – everything about our lives will be changed!” Another person said, “If a person cannot get sufficient, clean water for as few as four days, terror takes over, and they will do whatever is necessary to survive!” We can expect to hear these kinds of illustrations over the next months!

On the other hand, as Ray Gano has continually warned us over the last year, to just stick our heads in the sand and do nothing to prepare; assuming life will go on as usual, just like it did after the Y2-K alarm, is worse than being over prepared. Again, whether the world comes to an end on December 21, 2012 is not the issue! With the tension as high as it is right now politically, economically and internationally, and with the fact that no one seems to have the answer, even many believers think God is about to allow something cataclysmic to happen to “reset” the balance scales of civilization! If God doesn’t ordain it, there are enough deranged people in the world whom the devil would use to “make it happen”, such as Iran’s plan to create world conflict in order to usher in their 12th Imam, the Mahdi, whom I believe will be the Anti-Christ!

In that regard, I would urge every family to prepare to be able to survive on your own for at least one month – food, water, clothing, shelter, sanitation, protection, etc., and then to develop a strategy for uniting your family with other families for a greater chance of survival. I urge you to begin accumulating things as soon as you can, and as quietly as you can, so as not to add to the “panic” or to “scare” others by what you are doing!

Remember, the Bible says, “Perfect love casts out ALL FEAR!” (John 4:18) As Christians, we must face our future in faith and not in fear! In Luke 21:26 and 28, Jesus described the two attitudes towards the future. In verse 26 He described the attitude of the wicked; the unbeliever; those who did not receive Christ as their Savior, as “men withering away for fear and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world!” But, in verse 28, He said, “when these things begin to come to pass, (Christians are to) look up, and lift up your head, because your redemption is at hand!”

In the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians, the Apostle Paul said, “we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face! (1 Cor. 13:12) None of us can see around the next corner, or into the next second, much less into the next year! As we hear this warning, day after day, all of us will have some level of fear, but not in the same degree and not for the same reason. Those of us who are saved will at least be apprehensive to stand before the Lord and give account of our days, for while we are already assured of our eternal life, some of us are ashamed about our past life, and even though we have been forgiven of our sins, and we know our salvation is at hand, we will still have to face the Father!

But according to the Scriptures, when those who are not truly saved cannot enjoy life as they have known it, and the signs of impending doom are being manifested daily, since they will not have that solid Rock to cling to, they will “cry out for the rocks to fall upon them and for the hills to cover them” (Luke 23:30) Yet, even after their death, they will still have to stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment and face God, because of their rejection of Jesus Christ as their Savior.

On the night Jesus told His disciples He was going back to the Father, He assured them with these very significant words: “Let not your heart be troubled – neither let it be afraid!” Jesus went on to PROMISE them, that because He was going back to the Father, after He had finished the work He had sent Him to do, He would do two things: He would send the Holy Spirit to be our constant Comforter, whose purpose was to assure us of our palace in heaven, regardless of the hell we experienced on earth, and He would come again to receive us – “that where He is, we would be also!”

The only two words I can use to encourage you today are: BE READY!! Prophetically, world events are lining up with Biblical prophecy to indicate our redemption draweth nigh! While the “date-setters” distract us with their prognostications to sell their books, the fact is that THE DATE that was set, even before the foundations of the world were laid, is very near! The question you must ask and answer is this: “What if it were today?” Whether it is through a world-wide catastrophe, the rapture of the church or personal disease or accident, “soon, and very soon, we are going to see the King!”

Of course we need to be as prepared as we can for earthly events – fires, floods, tornadoes and all the other acts of “nature” – that’s just being good stewards of God’s resources! But even more importantly, we must prepare for that “supernatural” act of God, when He removes us from this world through the rapture of the Church. As a woman said recently, “I’m not waiting around for the “undertaker”, I’m looking for the “Upper-taker”, and I’m expecting Him today!” – wje
