On Friday Aug 5th 2011 the DOW dropped over 500 points.
Why?
The credit rating of the United States as dropped from a “AAA” rating to a “AA+” rating.
What is happening is that the money markets as well as other countries do not believe that the US will pay her sovereign debt which is about $114 trillion, if not more.
There is a very interesting article that recently came out titled “20 Signs That The Fabric Of American Society Is Coming Apart At The Seams.”
Here are just a few of the twenty…
#4 A Vancouver, Washington woman has been charged with trying to sell her newborn baby in front of a Taco Bell. Apparently she was hoping to get somewhere between $500 and $5000 for the baby.
#11 In Woodstock, Georgia a 61-year-old man reportedly promised to give a 17-year-old boy money if he would do certain “things” for the man. Well, it turns out that the 61-year-old man ended up setting the teen on fire….
A 61-year-old man has been arrested on charges of aggravated battery, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, and solicitation of sodomy after he set a 17-year-old boy on fire in Woodstock.
#14 The National Retail Federation says that “inventory loss” for retail stores was up 11% last year. Most of the “inventory loss” is attributed to such things as shoplifting and employee theft.
#16 One of the hot new trends for young males is to play the “knockout game”. In this “game”, a group of young men picks out an innocent bystander and the first one to knock that person out is the “winner”.
#20 Many believe that a big reason for all of this chaos in America today is the decline of the American family. In 1960, married couples accounted for 75 percent of all households in America. Today, they account for just 48 percent of all households.
Scripture says…
Jeremiah 17:5-6 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
All over this nation we see more and more people being filled with despair. Due to the despair people are turning to alcohol, drugs, sex, just about any vice trying to give them “happiness” but in turn it is just a trap.
People are throwing away their lives. They are mad at everyone and instead of taking responsibility for their actions. They even shove their fist into the face of God because He has not come down here with his fairy wand and “binged” people on the head making their problems go away.
Again, Jeremiah paints a clear picture…
Jeremiah 18:15-16 Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
16 To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
That is we as a nation has done. We have forgotten God and instead turn to material things to fill that void which only God can fill.
See this is all a natural progression.
When we walk away and turn our backs on God, we seek out other things to fill that void.
Because we try and try everything in the world to fill that void that only God can fill, we become depressed.
Upon feeling depressed we then begin to feel hopeless.
It is in our hopelessness that the enemy then starts working on us. We start making excuses, becoming the victim, more depression seeps in and more hopelessness. We feel worthless, unable to do anything right, good for nothing and the downward spiral continues on till we take our own lives due to the sin we have wrapped ourselves in completely.
Sometimes we drink ourselves to death, drug overdose, STDs, even suicide.
Sin always leads to death.
Hopelessness in the Christian
I get emails from time to time telling me about the hopelessness and to be honest every Christian does go through this, and we are often brought out on the other side.
But there are times when Christians fall prey to the enemy and start that downward spiral, become deeper and deeper they become involved in sin until the sin traps us.
See we who are His have a promise…
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
What is our way to escape?
Jesus Christ.
But it is often due to our own pride that we wait too long to turn to Him. We try to solve the problems ourselves and be the captain of our own ship.
Thing is that it never works.
Why Am I Hopeless?
In many of those emails I get, I see a common denominator. The person, although a Christian, has not given themselves fully over to the Lord. They are holding some part back and don’t trust Him enough to get out of the boat and walk on the water with Him.
In almost all cases, it is due to pride.
“Oh I can handle it” – “No problem is to big for me” – ” Time works things out for themselves”, etc, etc and the list goes on.
What do I have to say to these excuses?
Yea.. right.
How many out there reading this right now feel hopeless?
The DOW is crashing, the nation is falling, I might lose my job, my mortgage is behind, I owe on a ton of bills, issue after issue and it seems to never stop.
Is it possible that God is trying to get your attention through all these things?
Now, let me say that bad things happen to good people, and the enemy has his hands in a lot of cookie jars messing with people’s lives.
But you know what? Many times we give the enemy to much credit for things in our lives that are self inflicted due to pride.
Instead of listening to God, we listen to our own council and it gets us in trouble every time.
Scripture says…
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
But you want to know the answer on how you can solve your problems?
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Oh No, there is that word…TRUST again.
“Ray, You mean we have to give up the steering wheel of life and give it over to God?”
Yep.
Those of you who have been my readers for a long time know that Proverbs 3:5-6 is our life verse. We walk every day in faith not knowing what tomorrow brings. All we know is that God will see us through the good times and the bad.
Now does that mean we are to float down the river if life as if we do not have a paddle?
No, there is a lot of responsibility on our side that we need to deal with, but the easiest way to deal with that is by always doing the right thing.
Now this is not the right thing in our eyes, but in the eyes of God.
But to know the right things we should be doing, we need to be in His Word.
Here is a picture of the man who does the right thing…
Psalms 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
In Jeremiah God clearly tells us what we need to do…
Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Folks, many of you know that I have been warning of hard times coming. I call this “The Coming Storm.”
Well this past Friday with our nations credit being dropped, and the DOW dropping 500 points all on the same day. Right now as I look at the news the DOW has dropped another 583, people are concerned and rightly so.
We are now in the time where the rubber is meeting the road.
If you are hopeless, I hate to say this but things are going to get worse.
You will fall into despair, sin and make that downward spiral, that is if you do not Trust God.
To weather this coming storm and the hardship this nation is going to see and feel, one will have to trust God 100%.
If we do not do as God’s Word says, we are working in pride and trying to do things ourselves. If this is you, you will fail.
One of the top contributors in any survival situation is that one must have faith and trust in God. To make it on their own in any disasterous event, people need to lean on Him. This is a fact and you can read it in all the books.
Now there are those out there that use the PC term “higher power.” Sorry, that does not cut it. It is Jehovah God alone that you must put your faith and trust in to see you though.
If you put your faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ (God) He promises us to always be faithful and never forsake us. His Grace is sufficient for us and He will be there for us 100% of the time.
That is if we always walk by faith in Him and His Word.
See, if you do not know His Word, you cannot walk in faith.
Many times I hear people mention “feelings.” I hear people say, “Oh I feel God wants us to do this or that.” Folks, we must walk by God’s Word and His Word alone. If our feelings match up with what God’s Word says, then we are good to go.
The problem is when we override God’s Word and lean upon our own understanding.
Remember what Jeremiah said…
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
So the only thing we can trust is His Word. But we also need to take that a step further and must submit to His Word. See trust and submission go hand in hand.
Remember that Old Gospel Hymn “Trust & Obey?”
Take a few moments to read the lyrics to the entire song.
When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
The key to surviving The Coming Storm is to Trust and Obey.
But if you do not know the Lord or you have not submitted fully to Him, it is very difficult to “Trust and Obey.”
If you do not know the Lord, what you need to do is turn to Him, seek His forgiveness and ask Him to be your Lord and savior of your life. See, no matter what, we are all sinners who are in need of a savior.
Scripture says…
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If you are a Christian today and you have not submitted fully, I am going to tell you right now that you are on the path of misery and God will continue to allow you to walk down that path till you finally turn to Him fully and submit to Him 100%.
How To Live In Times of Hopelessness
How do we live in times when everything seems hopeless? Simple, we submit fully to God and His Word and Trust and Obey fully in Him.
When we are feeling hopeless we need to ask ourselves “WHY.” Why do we feel that way? Most times it is because we are out of fellowship with Him. Simply said, we are not “Trusting and Obeying” God.
Now if we are doing the right thing and waiting upon the Lord, God promises us the following…
Psalms 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
So if we “trust and obey” God promises us His lovingkindness on our lives. Other places in scripture tell us that His favor and blessing will also be upon us.
Now again, bad things happen to good people, but through all of that, we know that God will not fail us nor forsake us, and that His grace will always be sufficient for us in that moment we need Him.
It is our guilt and pride to think that our sins are too great, our burdens to big. Again, We read in 1 John that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We are all sinners who need our Savior.
We need to Trust and Obey, For there is no other way, to live happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Survive The Coming Storm By Ray Gano
Insane spending by past and current administrations has led us into staggering debt. Paying back the loans and interest gathered in the attempt to spend our way out of that debt has become impossible.
The demise of the dollar is looming, poised to die in flaming downward spiral. When it hits bottom, this nation will fall into chaos like she has never seen before, plunging into third -world status. Food, gas, and most everything else will become drastically more expensive, coupled with a rise in crime. The “New Normal” for our nation will be upon us as these changes take place.
Hollywood has painted an apocalyptic world, filled with mutant “Mad Max” biker gangs and zombies as this nation’s future.
What is sad is that the masses have bought into this false idea.
In this book the author, Ray Gano, takes examples from history as well as from a Christian biblical standpoint showing what you can do to prepare. Is your family prepared to Survive The Coming Storm.
