I’m Right – NO.. I’m Right!

ray-ganoWell as if by clockwork, I got the typical, ” I support this version of the rapture, I see by your site you support the “incorrect one”, therefore I am right, you are wrong and I am going to force my ideas down your throat.”

If you have been a watchman on the wall for any amount of time, you have probably run into this as well.

The preverbial butting of heads about the timing of the rapture. I have been a watchman now for almost 20 years now. I have heard every story, theory, idea and rambling.

Funny, I get people who write me who have “discovered” this new idea of the timing of the rapture and they are all gung-ho to play what I call “Stump The Chump.”

Well you know what?

I am tired of playing “Stump the Chump”, so I don’t play anymore.

Personally, I am tired of all the infighting.

wabbit-season-410-200I look at what our nation has turned into, turning her back on the Lord. I wonder if our nation would be different if we did not worry so much if we shared the gospel more and argued less about the timing of the rapture or any other non-issue.

Let me ask you this, can you tell me when the rapture will take place? I mean the exact day, in fact lets be broad here and tell me the month or year.

See none of us can 100% say with 100% authority when it will take place.

Sure we have our ideas that are backed up very well by scripture, no matter what camp you may be in.

But in all honesty we can’t say exactly when the rapture will take place. What we do know is that it will take place and it will be imminent.

Meaning that we will have no idea when, we just need to be ready at all times.

We can peer out over the horizon and look at what is taking place in the world and make a “best guess”. But if we are truly honest with ourselves, we don’t know.

I know what you may be thinking, ” Oh No, Ray has given up on the rapture.”

No not at all.

What I have given up on is the endless battles, arguments, name calling, demonizing and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

Sure it may start out as a “friendly” discussion, but eventually the name calling starts, tempers flare, and the next thing we know is that we have ruined our witness to those lurking and listening to our arguments.

A couple of years ago God really convicted me about all of this. That is why you have not seem me out there much hacking and slashing with the sword and entering some of these debates.

He really convicted me saying ” you come down on all these other theories about the timing of my rapture, and yet you are doing the same thing they are, you are setting a time.”

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Now this is my own personal conviction, I am not telling anyone that they have to believe the same as I do. I just know what scripture says… no man knoweth, but my Father only.”

To be so dogmatic on something to the point of breaking fellowship and arguing about it to me is wrong and that is what I see happening out there…a lot!

This arguing and bashing ,in my opinion, is no longer having love for the brethern.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Think about it for a moment. This is an event that is taking place in the future. We know that this will be taking place, but we cannot be dogmatic because we are not the Father, so how can we dogmatically state that we know exactly when?

If we say that we dogmatically “know when”, then we are in fact predicting a future event.

There are many people who have named a “when” and they were wrong. The most well known name that comes to my mind is Harold Camping.

How much of Camping’s witness is ruined? But more than that, look how he has smeared mud on all of us and damaged our witness.

Just to clarify, I have no problem discussing and talking about our ideas, it is when we cross over into being harshly dogmatic and resort to being belligerent, I know that there are many who will disagree with me, that is why I say that this is a personal conviction that I have.

In fact about a week or so ago someone out of the blue wrote me a really short and snide email making accusations on how wrong I am and how I am misleading people.

When I wrote back and told him I really was not interested in “discussing” (debating /arguing) his point, he actually go mad at me. Then the name calling started, what a coward I was, blah, blah, blah.

Here is the point…

I am really grieved by the state that this nation is in, in fact the state of the world.

Everyone is getting worked up over some wife cheater, or a Mormon, or a person who’s foreign policy is just bad.

In my humble opinion they all are horrible choices; coupled with the current choice who was elected in three years ago and one can see that they are all cut from the same un-biblical cloth.

No matter who gets elected, I really do not think it will amount to a hill of beans. The same anti-Christian, socialist ideals will be pushed forward.

Do we really want change?

What is needed is the sharing of the gospel.

If we were more worried about sharing the gospel and less worried about who is right or wrong regarding the timing of the rapture, maybe this nation would be on better footing.

But as long as we choose to argue and debate, the enemy is winning by default.

We need to get back to “occupying till He returns” and less arguing over “when” He is going to return.

We may think that we really know, have all the right verses, great charts and graphs and all, but at the end of the day we still cannot say when.

Because we are not the Father and only He knows.
