JR Church – Prophecy In The News
Converted at the age seven in a home Bible study, J.R. Church set out with one main goal in life – to win others to Jesus Christ. J.R. was raised in Sunday School and Church and learned the wisdom of winning souls at an early age. He was called into the ministry at an early age, so upon graduation from Lubbock High School in 1957, he moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he received his formal Bible education at Tennessee Temple University. In 1992, he received a B.A. degree, with a major in Bible and a minor in history. His love for history gave him insight into God’s great “Plan of the Ages” and has prompted him to pursue his present field of prophetic research. In 2001, he was given an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the Immanuel Baptist Theological Seminary in Peachtree, Georgia.
J.R. and Linda have been married for 52 years. They have two children and five grandchildren. Their daughter, Terri Jean and her son Matthew live in Denison, Texas. Their son, Jerry and his wife, Robin have three daughters, Brittany, Sarah and Molly, and a son, Jordan, who live in Oklahoma City.
In 1964, J.R. organized Western Hills Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, where he served as the pastor for 17 years, building a large bus ministry and Christian school. During the 1970s his interest turned toward prophetic research and the need to create a nationwide television ministry as a means of sharing his studies with others and winning the lost. At the same time J.R. began to travel across America lecturing in churches and in prophecy conferences on many unique prophetic subjects. Perhaps you have seen his 7-screen panoramic presentations that have thrilled audiences across the country.
In 1979, J.R. was led by the Lord to move his family to Oklahoma City, where he began to write and record his thoughts and studies on Bible prophecy. 31 years later we can see that God has honored his commitment to this unique subject in a spectacular way. J.R. asked the Lord to provide him with a continuous source of prophetic material and God has kept His promise!
Today, Prophecy in the News produces a nationally syndicated television program that is seen all across America.
J.R. Church is convinced that Jesus Christ will return soon, perhaps in his lifetime. Though he does not subscribe to date-setting, he feels that the return of the Jews to their Promised Land is the single greatest prophetic fulfillment, in which the biblical “last days” were launched. He is convinced that the only hope for this sin-cursed world lies in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The return of the Son of God will bring true peace and the prosperity to the human race. There really is a utopia in the future – in Jesus Christ!
