Servant-Warrior Rule #1 – Live For The King

ray-gano-medWhen walking the life of a servant warrior, like the warriors of old, we live by the warrior code.

A quick reminder of those virtues are:

  • Loyalty
  • Faith
  • Charity
  • Justice
  • Prudence
  • Temperance
  • Resolution
  • Truth
  • Diligence
  • Hope
  • Valour

At the top of the list is loyalty.

Loyalty is key to the warrior. Loyalty to his lord and master, loyalty to his family, loyalty to his friend and fellow brothers in arms.

But most of all the warrior was loyal to the King, the King was his sovereign, and his liege.

As the servant warrior we to are called to loyalty of our Lord, Master, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is Lord of our lives. This attitude comes from the days when one’s Lord was also his or her master. This person was the ruling agent in a person’s life to whom fealty was sworn.

What is fealty?

Fealty is an oath. If you served in the military you recognize the Latin form, fidelitas (faithfulness). Fealty is a pledge of allegiance of one person to another.

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are making an allegiance to Him.

In fact so much so that we trust and put our eternal lives into His hands and from that point on, we are to live within and be subject to His Will and not our own.

By saying that Jesus is Lord, people put Him above earthly rulers. One way of thinking about it is that we are the king’s good servant, but Jesus Christ is to always come first.

warrior1During the revolutionary war, the motto of the people was “No King But King Jesus.”

The sad thing is that this understanding of who Jesus Christ really is, (King of Kings, Lord of Lords & Absolute Sovereign over our lives) has become nothing but a watered down slogan.

Sure we say that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, we may even believe it to a point in our hearts, but the real question is do we really live it?

I honestly believe that given the serious times ahead for Christians, I really think that now is the time that we who claim the title Christian go back to that original meaning and begin using it as a literal expression of fealty and loyalty once again.

As we are finding out, we are servant-warriors on a solitary path. There are times where we are able to meet with other likeminded servant-warriors and have wonderful fellowship. But in today’s world there is nothing left for us in the building called “Churchianity.”

This is why we need the warrior code. So that when times arise, we are able to fall back upon a code of conduct so that when people look at us, they can see that we are servant warriors for Christ and it is the King of Kind with whom we serve.

It is this loyalty that also helps us to remain loyal to God and helps continue to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.

Knowing that even when we are alone, God is still with us. So no matter what that accountability is there and helps shed that false mask that many wear.

Yes, they look good on the outside, but the on the inside, they still serve themselves over serving God.

Christianity is and always has been a counter-cultural force. No true Christian can live as God’s servant-warrior and not live for the king first.

Our loyalty is to Jesus first.

In doing this, it will pit us against the world, that is true. But it will also enable us to become the instruments of His change by which He converts the world.

So, before we can preach it or teach it, we’ve got to start living it. That means 24/7 365 days a year.

But we do not do this for others or for the effect we will have in our communities. We don’t even do this for ourselves.

We do it for Him because we are loyal to Jesus Christ our Lord.

warrior-6That’s what it means when we say that Christ is King, at least for us in this life. Our loyalty is to Him and we submit to His Will, not our own.

But we as true bible believing Christians already know. That is Jesus Christ is King of ALL life, everywhere and for all eternity.

Jesus Christ is King of all life, everywhere, and all eternity.

His Kingdom is the Kingdom of Heaven. We are His subjects in that Kingdom. The important thing that we must remember is that we are his representatives of that Kingdom as we live in the here and now.

We are also His subjects in His Kingdom throughout eternity.

So even though we are the Lone Warrior / Ronin We, like our Lord, are eternal beings and our Kingdom is not of this earth.

The important thing for us is that we allow him to be King of our lives and must always be loyal to Him, even when we may not like it or it is painful. He gave His life for us, was tortured for us, died for us, and rose from the dead for us so that we may spend eternity for Him.

Is it to much to give your life back and be that servant-warrior for our King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

Is Jesus your Lord?

Is He the sole arbiter of your actions?

Is he Lord of your life in deed and fact?

As you know our faith is under attack from many directions. “Jesus is the Lord of my life” is no longer just a slogan. It is a question demanding an answer.

Is Jesus the Lord of your life in thought and deed?

Do you follow Him before all others?

Are you HIS servant – warrior?

If you claim the title Christian, it is your reasonable service to act as such. Because if you are NOT His servant-warrior, then in the end, you not only serve yourself, but by your actions or lack thereof, you are actually serving the enemy.

Think about this and ask yourself – who do you serve?
