Now that the New Year is upon us, many of us have made resolutions. Let’s be fair for a second. We seem to make the same goals for ourselves every year with little change in hoping that we can do a better job of keeping them this year. If you are like me, hitting the gym just isn’t working out for me.
But there is something that we all can adopt for the New Year and keep all year long. That goal is simply— to stand.
Let me tell you something you already know. Standing isn’t about moving but it’s about standing your ground. You are not advancing forward, and not being pushed backwards or around.
So for this year, and the years to come, plant yourself and stand firm.
We all faithfully watch the news. We know what’s going on in the world, so there is no doubt that an attack on Christianity is coming in this country. It has to. Now, we do see some persecution taking place but I fear what is coming will come from within before it comes from without.
And if you are not standing in your place, you will fall.
Here is the kicker about that. Those who are falling will try everything within their power to take you with them.
See, we have to stand for the old paths. We don’t need to turn to the left or the right. We don’t need to look for a new revelation.
Those who are falling will try and tell us that we don’t need the King James Bible anymore. It’s old, outdated, a waste of paper. We have these new versions that are so much better and easier to read.
Let me tell you that these new versions don’t stand for the salvation gospel. They deny the blood, you won’t go to hell—because they removed all references regarding it. They have taken out words like sin, homosexuality, or anything that might be offensive. We have the new age bibles that won’t convict of sin.
Hey wait, that’s the message of most churches now a days. Funny how these funny bibles go hand in hand with the church.
If you don’t stand for the old King James, how are you going to be able to know the truth of God’s word? How can you stand for the truth when you don’t know it?
You will be led down a path of destruction thinking all along that you are doing fine. In fact, you will get mad at those trying to warn you. You will break fellowship thinking you are doing the will of God but because you have nothing to stand on, you will be deceived like nearly everyone else.
Psalm 119:105 (KJV) says: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. How can you know where you are going if you are reading one of them funny bibles?
We need to stand for the church. Not these mega-churches that do absolutely nothing for you. But we must stand guard over the ones that Satan wants to destroy. Jude 3-4 says: Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old, ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men turning the grace of God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Right now in our place in history, there are forces at work trying to destroy the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. As we have seen over the past years, strange things have entered our churches. We started out by taking out the King James Bible and putting in a phony one (most likely an NIV). Then we took out the hymns and replaced it with a cute guy in a dress down shirt wearing a ponytail and an earring. Now we call it Praise Worship. It’s what brings the crowds in.
As these mega churches grow, society continues its downward spiral. Men are not standing in their place defending anything. Those few that are fighting the good fight, standing firm are getting worn out. They are watching and warning of the coming destruction but few listen.
Not many wants to hear the word of God anymore. But they press on standing on the word of God. While others around them fall out or quit, they hold their sword up higher, and their shield of faith tighter. They stand ready to defend the truth of God’s holy word.
Friends, this world has had it. We are not going to turn back to God. We refuse to get on our face before God and repent of our sin. Facebook is more important to us now than prayer. We will not humble ourselves and pray. We just won’t do it. The sin in this country continues to get worse every day.
So what are you going to do this year? Are you going to live your life on Facebook and social media or will you give up all that nonsense and seek the Lord?
God is looking for men and women to stand. Will you be one of them that won’t budge on the truth of God’s word, defending it?
Will you determine to read you bible several times through this year? Or will you be dragging down those who do?
Stay on the old paths. It’s worth it.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Wherefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
