Tea Party Terror

People who aren’t of sound mind or godly spirit do strange, sometimes evil things. Such is the case where gunman Jared Loughner is concerned.

On 1-8-11 Loughner opened fire with a semi-automatic handgun at a public meeting being held outside an Arizona supermarket by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat, shooting her in the head, killing six innocent people and injuring 19 in total before being tackled by heroic bystanders.

As soon as I heard of the shooting on the news, one of my first thoughts was whether or not the liberal media would begin trying to draw connections between the Tea Party movement and the shooting if the congresswoman was a Democrat, particularly if she was a supporter of the highly unpopular, politically polarizing legislation-turned-law most people refer to as Obamacare. It didn’t take long for the media to give me an answer. Already, according to the Associated Press, Americans are “questioning whether divisive politics” “pushed the suspect over the edge”.

Divisive politics. Maybe it’s just me, but from my perspective? It’s a little less than objective to suggest that politics are divisive, hatred and violence-inducing only when the politics the public has a problem with are liberal-leaning and widely opposed by the majority of Americans, government-run healthcare being a prime example.

Forget that the suspect is reportedly “mentally unstable” and, according to a former classmate, a “pot-smoking loner”. We are to believe he shot all the innocent people he did because of divisive politics? That’s the media’s subliminal message to all of us and they hope we’ll remember it whenever liberal politicians want to force feed us something we don’t like very much. We shouldn’t oppose anything politically supported by the Left vocally or demonstratively on any detectable scale because if we do? Someone like Loughner is going to begin shooting and it’s going to be our fault. But is Loughner a conservative, a Tea Party sort of guy? Only if you believe the mainstream media stereotype.

The following is an excerpt from the AP report linked above:

High school classmate Grant Wiens, 22, said Loughner seemed to be “floating through life” and “doing his own thing.”

“Sometimes religion was brought up or drugs. He smoked pot, I don’t know how regularly. And he wasn’t too keen on religion, from what I could tell,” Wiens said.

While there is no doubt in my mind there are conservatives who smoke marijuana, own firearms, outwardly display hostility toward religion and government and can act violently, Loughner doesn’t fit the mold of most conservatives of the Tea Party or garden varieties, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story, right?

Sarah Palin made him do it

That Congresswoman Giffords would be shot in a scenario like this couldn’t have been scripted better to play into the media’s deep-seated dislike of the Tea Party movement than it does, as the following excerpt from the AP story indicates:

The sheriff blamed the vitriolic political rhetoric that has consumed the country, much of it occurring in Arizona.

Giffords expressed similar concern, even before the shooting. In an interview after her office was vandalized, she referred to the animosity against her by conservatives, including Sarah Palin’s decision to list Giffords’ seat as one of the top “targets” in the midterm elections.

“For example, we’re on Sarah Palin’s targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action,” Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.

Long before this happened, a seed was planted by liberal politicians and their cohorts in the mainstream media, that seed being that Sarah Palin for example, a Tea Party favorite, was somehow subliminally suggesting gunfire, perhaps even murder, as a viable means of bringing change to Washington. Does anyone who isn’t highly liberal or insane believe that? No, but the liberal media is going to keep selling it, hoping that conservatives everywhere are going to believe this never would’ve happened if divisive politics hadn’t pushed Loughner over the edge. The goal of the Left, from long ago until now and moving forward from here, has been and is to silence conservatives when liberal legislators forward the homosexual agenda, pass pro-abortion legislation, increase our national debt at breakneck speed, weaken our national defense, threaten our constitutionally protected rights, etc. and so forth.

Am I stating this horrific incident, the pain and evil of which stings all Americans regardless of political affiliation, is going to lead to a liberal media onslaught against Tea Party and other conservatives that will extend far beyond believability? You bet! It’s already underway.

The following is an excerpt from a Yahoo news blog:

Asked by the New York Post whether his daughter had any enemies, Giffords’s father replied: “The whole tea party.”

While I feel for Giffords’ father and fully understand how emotions can run wild in a situation like the one he finds himself in, suggesting that the actions of Jared Loughner were on behalf of the Tea Party isn’t believable.

While the Tea Party movement may be Giffords’ enemy politically, many of her conservative ‘enemies’ are today praying for her and all those impacted directly or indirectly by the inexcusably violent actions of one Jared Loughner, a man who is obviously in great need of prayer himself and now has a lot more to answer for on Judgment Day than he did yesterday.

If you’re reading this and haven’t prayed for all of those involved in this senseless tragedy, please pause for a moment after reading this and do so. Having been in a number of scenarios of this nature during my career in law enforcement, I can’t begin to describe how much prayer is needed at a time like this for all those involved. For most of us the stinging of the incident will slowly dissipate, but for some of those involved? There will never be another day the rest of their lives when they won’t be troubled or experience the pain of loss brought about by Loughner’s actions.

Satan made him do it

Those of us who hold a biblical worldview know there is far more going on than meets the eye in a scenario like this, after which a nation’s collective mind can (and will) be manipulated by spiritual wickedness in high places.

Does it even need to be said that Satan played a prominent role in this tragic event and is going to diligently work to demonize all conservatives in the aftermath of it, stopping at nothing to quiet or silence the collective voice of all opposed to abortion, the homosexual agenda, and a litany of other liberal causes that threaten the spiritual health of our nation? I don’t believe so. His signature is written all over this incident.

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Mark my words. Having already tried to cast the Tea Party movement as racist with little to no success, the mainstream media is going to do everything within its power, Satan loving every second of it, to use this incident in Arizona to paint all supporters of the Tea Party movement (at the very least) as gunslinging maniacs when only one man pulled the trigger of a gun and is in custody, which is where all of us of sound mind and spirit pray he will remain and justice will be served.

FYI: While I am a registered Republican voter, I cast my votes as an independent – often for the lesser of two evils. I have never attended a Tea Party event nor GOP-sponsored event in my lifetime.
