I am one who believes that studying the scriptures is vital for our lives as Christians. More than that, but the study of Bible Prophecy helps us to tell what is truth verses all that stuff that is popular today that tickles the ears.
The better we know scripture, the better we will be able tell the truth from all that shineola
Let me give you a short analogy here.
US Treasury agents are the ones who are in charge of protecting our nation’s currency from counterfeit. Their primary tool is our own currency. The agents spend hours upon hours studying, learning every detail in regards to our currency. They know the feel, smell; every intricate detail of our currency. They probably even know the taste. When they come across a false dollar bill, they know it almost immediately. The reason is that they have studied the original so much that is has become a part of them. It has become second nature.
It is that way as well when we are strong in the knowledge of God’s Word.
If you know God’s Word & constantly study and learn, when you come up against a falsehood regarding scripture, we know it is wrong because His word is a part of us.
The study of Bible Prophecy is so important in these days. One third of the bible deals with Bible prophecy. In most cases it is one of 3 main topics, Israel, Jesus the (our) Messiah, and the last days and the Second Coming of our Lord, The Day of the Lord.
Just Look Around
How many of you go to your popular news website pretty regularly?
Isn’t it amazing that no matter where you turn we are seeing more and more things pointing to bible prophecy?
I wrote an article about how people during the time of Christ also saw bible prophecy coming to life right before their eyes. They got to meet and talk to God in the flesh themselves. That is, those who were students of bible prophecy.
Throughout the years man has always believed that “he” was living in the last days as well. One of the reasons is that man always repeats his history and we make the same sorry mistakes.
Here is a great example of what I am talking about. Let’s look at the early 1900s.
These folks thought for sure that they were living in the last days.
World War I was taking place.
Financial problems were taking place all over the world.
Europe was in upheaval.
Russia was overthrown and communism took place.
In fact, here is a real kicker, the natural disasters taking place were incredible…
April 18, 1906 – San Francisco Earthquake
San Francisco was wrecked by a Great Earthquake at 5:13 a.m., and then destroyed by the seventh Great Fire that burned for four days. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of trapped persons died when South-of-Market tenements collapsed as the ground liquefied beneath them. Most of those buildings immediately caught fire, and trapped victims could not be rescued. Reevaluation of the 1906 data, during the 1980s, placed the total earthquake death toll at more than 3,000 from all causes. Damage was estimated at $500,000,000 in 1906 dollars.
January 31, 1906 – Off the Coast of Ecuador – 8.8 Earthquake
A catastrophic magnitude 8.2 earthquake off the coast of Ecuador and Colombia generated a strong tsunami that killed 500 to 1500 there. It was observed all along the coast of Central America and as far north as San Francisco and west to Japan…..The wave arrived in Hilo at about 12.5 hours after the earthquake. It covered the floor of the old wharf at the end of Waianuenue Street and the railroad tracks between there and Waiakea. The range of oscillations in water level was 3.6 m and the period 30 minutes. The channels of the Wailuku and Wailoa Rivers alternately dried up, then disappeared under the tidal wave.
April 1906 – Mt. Vesuvius – Volcano Eruption
Mt. Vesuvius violently erupted. It lasted ten days and causing great destruction and killed 2000 people.
The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 AKA The Spanish Flu
The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as “Spanish Flu” or “La Grippe” the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster.
Then something HUGE… The First World War.
June 28, 1914 – World War 1 1914 – 1918
The First World War spanned four years and involved many nation states. The ignition point was Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austro-Hungarian Empire, in Sarajevo, Bosnia
People thought for sure that this was the final battle spoken about in scripture.
But we can look back and see that those living during that time were in fact wrong.
Why?
Because there is one important fact missing in the early1900 vs today.
What is that fact?
Israel was not a nation.
In fact Israel has not been a sovereign nation for almost 2000 years. That is until May 14, 1948 where in one day, the nation of Israel was created.
This in itself was spoken about by Isaiah 66:8. This in itself is ALSO Bible Prophecy coming to pass.
Isaiah 66:8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
May 14th 1948 it was a day that will live in infamy.
In my mind I see something like this taking place; God took his giant hourglass and turned it over and the countdown started May 14th 1948.
Now I do not think that God had a ‘literal’ hourglass and the grains of time are dropping through, but you get the picture.
It is this benchmark in time where from that time forward we see Bible Prophecy coming to pass and in fact it is moving at a very fast pace.
Just turn on the news right now or go check out your flavor of news and nine times out of ten you will see something pointing to bible prophecy being reported.
In Ezekiel 4:3-6 it is prophesied when Israel would be re-established.
Because all of these facts, I strongly believe that Christ will return in our lifetime. That is my hope.
Since 1948 we have seen Bible Prophecy come to pass. We have not just seen an instance here or there, but many instances all in concert with the rebirth of Israel.
Here is a short list.
Rebirth of Israel – Mat 24:32-34
Exiles returning to Israel – Ezekiel 37:21
Israel becomes fertile and blossoms – Isaiah 27:6
Ethiopian Jews return to Israel – Zeph 3:10
Israel surrounded by Arab nations / enemies Psalms 83:4-8
Increase in false messiahs – Mat 24:4-5
Increase in false prophets and heresies Mat 24:24, 2 Tim 4:3-4
I can go on, but I think that you get the general idea here.
NOW, will I bet the farm on this and be all dogmatic?
No I will not because I do not have a magic crystal ball and I am not God.
But based on all the evidence, I believe that the odds are in my favor and we will see the Lord Return in victory.
Since 1948 these things have come to pass along with many other prophecies spoken of in the Bible.
Israel is now a nation, the labor pains are increasing, so much so that almost an hour does not go by where something of prophetic interest takes place in the news.
Want some more evidence?
Just taking earthquakes as an example, of the twelve largest earthquakes, 3 of them were pre-1948 while the remaining nine were after 1948.
Location Date Magnitude
1. Chile May 22, 1960 9.5
2. Prince William Sound, Alaska Mar. 28, 1964 9.2
3. Off the West Coast of Northern Sumatra Dec. 26 1952 9.0
4. Kamchatka Nov. 4, 1952 9.0
5. Off the Coast of Ecuador Jan. 31 1906 8.8
6. Northern Sumatra, Indonesia Mar. 28 2005 8.7
7. Rat Islands, Alaska Feb.4,1965 8.7
8. Andreanof Islands, Alaska Mar. 9, 1957 8.6
9. Assam – Tibet Aug. 15, 1950 8.6
10. Kuril Islands Oct. 13, 1963 8.5
11. Banda Sea, Indonesia Feb. 1, 1938 8.5
12. Kamchatka Feb. 01.1923 8.5
There is a lot more evidence out there and that is why the study of bible prophecy is so exciting.
I honestly believe that we are the generation spoken about by Christ. I can be wrong, but being a student of bible prophecy, there sure seems like a lot of things have properly fallen into place in light of scripture.
Do You Believe We Are Living In The Last Days?
My earnest hope is that many of you who took the time to read this information won’t just let all this fall by the wayside.
If you do not know the Lord, here are some scriptures I wish to share with you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I would encourage you to not delay in receiving Christ as you Savior today. He died for your sins, and rose from the dead. He offers you eternal life, but that’s your choice to make. I hope you will consider doing that today.
All you have to do is ask God to forgive you of your sins and believe on Him.
Here is prayer I have prayed with folks, you can pray this also…
Father in Heaven, I know that I am a sinner in need of a savior. I need your forgiveness through Jesus Christ who died on the cross just for me to cover the sins that I have committed against you. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. I want to live for you Lord Jesus and from this day forward be known as a Child of God. Thank you for forgiving my sins and coming into my life, in Jesus’ wonderful name. Amen
If you are a Christian, but have fallen away from the Lord, come back to Him. Our Heavenly Father is a good and loving Father. Just ask and commune with Him. You see, He never left your side, we just left Him. Reach out and renew your relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior today.
